Packaging Design

mandate

Create a new artisanal product line that elevates culinary experiences through locally sourced ingredients from the St-Lawrence River.

Marchés publics de Montréal is an organization of farmers where residents can find and taste local produce. Their goal is to present Montreal as a sustainable and healthy metropolis.

CONTEXT

APPROACH

RESULT

I started the project by researching competitors who produced artisanal salts. I discovered their values, what makes them unique and where they sourced their products. I learned that there weren't many salt products sourced from the St-Lawrence River, helping me decide to focus my packaging around this location and its fauna.

I chose pixelated graphics to echo flaky salt's grainy texture, highlighting its artisanal quality. The geometric box design enhances the line extension's premium appeal, while the fragmented logo evokes sprinkled salt. I chose my colour palettes based on the flavour profile of each herbal-infused salt: green to represent salt and thyme's freshness, blue for salt and oregano's delicate tones and red for salt and sage's richness.
